Киев и Москва са подготвяли преговори за частично прекратяване на огъня. Въпреки това те са били прекъснати от настъплението на ВСУ в Курска област. Информация за това се появи за първи път в медиите в средата на август, но френският ежедневник Le Monde подчерта в неделя, че сега подготовката на преговорите е потвърдена от официални лица на Киев.

Според източника на редакцията идеята за преговори е възникнала след юнската мирна среща за Украйна, която се проведе в Швейцария.
